Edgware or Morden – Kate M Burrell - TFL LTM Collection
The Kate M Burrell collection consists of seven deckchair designs from the TfL's London Transport Museum poster archive.
Drawn between in 1927-1928 they take the sitter on an art deco adventure from the end of the line, to an up-river excursion via Kew Gardens,
a countryside jaunt and finally a visit to the Southend seaside across a palette of bright pinks, blues and greens. Burrell designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport
between 1924-1934. A relative mystery though surrounds the designer who is thought to be Kathleen Burrell a founder, in the 1920s, of Clement Dane Studio, which was a prevalent commercial design company at the time.
