It produced by British Railways (BR) to promote rail travel to Bath, North East Somerset. The cushion shows a view of the Pump Room, part of the baths built by the Romans who were drawn to Bath, which they named ‘Aquae Sulis’, because of its unique natural hot springs. In the 18th century, Bath was the most fashionable resort in England. Artwork by Claude Buckle (1905-1973), who originally trained as an architect, but later turned to pictorial art.
